Learning for a lifetime

Learning for a lifetime

I have a passion for web design and web development. I don’t have a computer science degree or a graphic design degree, but I do hold a BA in Communications from Elon University I also have a certificate in Graphic Design from The School of Communication Arts in Raleigh, NC (now Living Arts college). Additionally, I have taken classes at local community colleges to learn HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript and Flash.

ANYONE WHO STOPS LEARNING IS OLD, WHETHER AT TWENTY OR EIGHTY.” —HENRY FORD

Lately, I have taken courses online to keep up with the rapidly changing technology. Just in the past year, I have taken many courses on Udemy. They offer courses for pay on different web technologies. Some of the courses I have invested in recently are:

  • WordPress Plugin Development
  • Advanced WordPress Development
  • Advanced jQuery
  • Website Accessibility
  • Advanced JavaScript
  • Modern JavaScript
  • React JS & Redux
  • Advanced CSS/SASS

Outside of Udemy, I have also taken a course on React JS for beginners by Wes Bos, and a course on web accessibility through Deque University.

This is more learning than I did in high school or college! I happen to be in a filed where everything is constantly changing and evolving. In fact, I named my portfolio website inspired-evolution.com for that very reason. Evolution is inevitable and we should be inspired by change (even if it means constant growth and learning).

If you have passion and drive you can succeed at anything. Even though my career has had it’s ups and downs, I will continue to move forward and persevere. That is who I am and I always strive for success through passion, hard work, determination and learning for a lifetime!
