I recently made a conscious effort to add more seafood to my diet, and less meat such as pork and beef. In particular, I like the health benefits<\/a> that wild-caught salmon offers consumers so I decided that eating salmon once a week makes sense as far as improving my health. I did some research on acquiring some delicious wild-caught salmon delivered to my front door. The website Epicurian offered up some very knowledgeable information on the best companies<\/a> to order seafood online and have it delivered to your doorstep.<\/p>\n

After reading, I decided to order some salmon fillets from Lummi Island wild<\/a> in Washington State. The ability to flash freeze items such as seafood and pack them in dry ice means they can be delivered across the country to places like North Carolina and can get delivered in a relatively short amount of time. You will just need to make sure you are at home when the delivery is made because you don't want fish sitting outside of your doorstep for long, especially if it is hot outside.<\/p>\n

I paid a good chunk of change for the order and delivery of (12) 6-ounce wild-caught salmon fillets ($170). I was happy with the delivery, packaging, and most importantly the flavor and taste of the salmon.<\/p>\n

Update May 2021<\/strong>. I am now finished with my supply of Lumi Island Salmon. I was very satisfied with the quality of the salmon, and I had some great meals. I tended to overcook the salmon on some occasions but that is my own fault and not the fault of the salmon. My favorite salmon toppings were a spicy-sweet combo such as Sriracha and honey or Sambal and honey.<\/p>\n

I came across an interesting article from Sea to Table<\/a> regarding farm raised salmon vs. wild-caught<\/a>. I plan on giving the salmon sampler a try next from Sea to Table and I will update and add more information when I have done that.<\/p>\n

Update Fall 2021<\/strong>. I ordered some frozen salmon from Sea to Table<\/a>. I ordered the salmon sampler from Sea to Table which included Chinook or King Salmon, Coho Salmon, and Sockeye salmon. Overall the salmon was very good, but I think I liked Lummi Island better. I will continue my salmon adventure in 2022!<\/p>\n

Update Winter 2023. <\/strong>I have ordered frozen salmon a few times now from Secret Island<\/a>. I may like their salmon above the others I have tried. The salmon from Secret Island is from off the Chilean Coast. The salmon has been tender and flaky in my various ways of fixing the salmon. Among those ways are via the air fryer, in the frying pan, using parchment paper, grilling, and baking.
